Hello There Frugal Homesteaders!

We have 2 very good reasons to be excited today…First, SPRING arrived yesterday afternoon and today was the first FULL day of Spring. And for us that means we are busy around the farm.  Second and most exciting reason….This is our very FIRST Post on our new Blog ‘HOMESTEADING FRUGALLY- Reviving Old-Time Skills.   Through this Blog we want to INSPIRE, MOTIVATE and HELP YOU become a self sufficient and Frugal Homesteader.  We have many years of experience homesteading and have helped many of our friends and family to master the art of Gardening, Canning, Cooking, Keeping Small Livestock and Chickens for meat and eggs and many other skills that lead them to a more Frugal, Simple and Self Sufficient life.  We are so excited to be able to share our experiences, ideas and simply to cheer you on.

BUT….CAN HOMESTEADING BE A FRUGAL WAY TO LIVE?

When you raise your own meat, grow your own vegetables & fruits and preserve them, keep a small flock of chickens for eggs, make your own natural soaps and household cleaners….I have to say YES….Homesteading is a Frugal way of life!  There are so many ways to save money and we will help you cut costs by sharing our Tips, Ideas, Recipes, Failures that lead to Successes, and how we re-purpose and re-use old things. We definitely believe Old-Time Skills brought to life will save you not only money but time.

BUT….WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF FRUGAL HOMESTEADING?

There are so many but here are a few benefits we appreciate:

*SAVE MONEY

*HEALTH BENEFITS FROM RAISING WHOLESOME CHEMICAL FREE FOODS

*SENSE OF SATISFACTION FROM WHAT YOU ACCOMPLISH

*A CONNECTION WITH THE EARTH YOU LIVE ON AND YOUR COMMUNITY

*QUALITY TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS

I could go on and on because this is just a tiny list of them. The point is…. there are definite benefits in pursuing and mastering one, two or more of the different elements that make up homesteading. And if you want to experience these benefits and many more-BECOME A HOMESTEADER!  You don’t need a lot of land….all you need is a plot of ground, backyard, deck, patio and a desire to dig in and try something new. We hope to be your go to resource….guides when you need help or just a pep talk!

Get your pencil and paper out and start planning what you want to tackle this Spring and we will be sharing the projects we are tackling here! We will be sharing how we built a small greenhouse from our old house windows and how you can do the same thing. If we can do it so can you!

Thanks for visiting us….come back again.       Melvin and Marcia
